Hard work spotlights the character of individuals: some turn up their sleeves, some turn up their noses and some don’t turn up at all.
It’s a fact that success in dance is the direct result of a marriage of hard work from both the student and their dance teachers. We’ll here borrow the words of legendary modern dance choreographer Martha Graham to say that for the student, “practice is a means of inviting the perfection desired.”
At the same time, it is the supreme art of the teacher to awaken the joy of creative expression, knowledge and technique in their students.
A Video is Worth a Million Words
One of DLDA’s many amazing dance teachers has done just that. In fact, the multi-talented eclectic embodied the precise meaning of this profound student-teacher relationship and created a short video montage in her spare time. Jazz Funk and Hip Hop teacher Angel Ginn, who joined the faculty in January recently decided to document the birth of this newfound relationship with her students on video using her iPad.
Although she had originally not intended this candid video edit to be viewed by outsiders, we have received permission from Angel to share this with you now.
As you’ll see in this behind-the-scenes video, both young students and teacher work hard in class… toward creating beauty everyday.
