Kaleila Ahulani joined DanceLova Dance Academy in December 2016. The award-winning competitive dancer is adding a whole new dimension to DLDA’s Jazz and Hip Hop classes. Her unique approach to teaching is combusting an even bigger inferno of passion inside the hearts our already fierce dance students.
Born and raised in Southern California Kaleila began dancing at age 3. From age 5-7 she performed regularly at live sporting events including hockey games as a junior Gulls Girl for the WCHL/ECHL and at race events as a junior Dream Team Dancer.
Adding theater to her skill set landed her a main role as the Sultan in the play Aladdin where she acted, sang and was a featured dancer throughout the play. Kaleila has been featured in many television programs and commercials as well as live performances at international conventions, trade shows, sporting events, charity events and on the main stages at the Los Angeles and Orange County Fair.
At age 14 she began an intensive training program as a commercial and competitive dancer in styles including hip hop, contemporary, jazz, tap, and tumbling. During this time, she won overall top first for 3 years in a row at KAR, Headliners, and Starbound competitions. She also caught the eye of famous choreographers Eddie Garcia and Tim Stevenson when they chose her as one of the main dancers for Team Dance Atak.
As she grew in style and technique Kaleila began receiving numerous requests for private lessons and to choreograph competition pieces. It was then that she realized she not only loved being a dancer but LOVED teaching even more!
Her goal in teaching is to empower her students and help them to find and develop their own styles. She now teaches and choreographs at DanceLova Dance Academy in Irvine as well as various studios in LA and Orange County.
