Apra Bhandari

Apra Bhandari joined the DanceLova Dance Academy faculty in Irvine in October 2013. The dynamic Bollywood dance instructor, Indian film industry player and former Miss India New York is moving bodies at the academy in a whole new way. Bollywood Dance class is now yet another new added dimension to the dance school’s existing spectrum of adult dance classes.

Since a very young age, Apra has been passionately dancing and performing. She brings under her belt a strong background in various Bollywood fusion style of dances, Kathak (one of the eight forms of Indian classical dance) and Hip Hop.

In 1998, Apra won the Miss India New York title, also winning for best talent. As president of Cornell University’s premier Bollywood fusion dance team Sitara, she choreographed and organized various cultural dance shows which infused Indian classical dance with Hip Hop, Bollywood and Modern Dance.

Apra’s work in Bollywood brought her together with with some of the biggest names which included Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Akshay Kumar, Deepika Padukone, and Juhi Chawla. In addition to that impressive roster are the very talented and creative choreographers, Vaibhavi Merchant and Remo Fernandes.

Today, her passion still continues in dance, something which is always seen in her unique choreography. Apra is now spreading that same energy to the adult fitness students who love DanceLova’s assortment of dance classes that, well, kick booty.
